AATCC Design
This project allowed me the opportunity to learn about AATCC testing methods and how to apply them to my own designs/collection tailored towards young travelers.

AATCC Student Competiton
Objective: Design a sustainable travel wear line that incorporates recycled materials, sustainable manufacturing, and antibacterial and/or odor-control properties.
Overview: The purpose of this collection is to create garments targeted to young adults ages 20-35, who may work in a virtual environment that allows them to use their past time to travel and focus on life-changing experiences.

This collection provides comfort with a stylish twist. The cropped hoodie allows for the t-shirt to peek through, allowing the consumer the ability to have a layered relaxed look. The extended sleeves add a twist to the silhouette of the garment while allowing the consumer to have extra warmth while traveling. This collection will use Bamboo and Hemp fleece as the primary fabric. Bamboo is known as one of the fastest-growing grasses in the world (Hyamann, 2020). It has the ability to grow continuously without the use of fertilizers and having to be replanted. Bamboo is known for its durable, odor-resistant, and anti-microbial properties (Standard Fiber, 2021). Hemp is also a natural fiber that is known for its durable, breathable, and anti-microbial properties (Fabric Link, 2021). When these two fibers are combined it creates a wonderful fabric that has the ability to be soft, strong, and comfortable all while assisting in fighting off odor and germs while traveling.

Testing Methods:
AATCC TM90: Antimicrobial assessment of textile materials: Agar Plate
AATCC TM100: Antibacterial Finishes on Textile Materials: assessment of
AATCC TM211: Reduction of bacterial odor on antibacterial-treated textiles
AATCC TM30: Antifungal Activity, assessment of textile materials: mildew and rot resistance of textile materials
AATCC TM93: Abrasion Resistance of fabrics

Explanation
The "Discovered Wanderer" collection ensures durability. Hemp is a very strong fiber that will stand the test of time, test AATCC TM93 will prove this to be true. Both Bamboo and Hemp fibers contain antibacterial properties, which will allow the consumer to be protected from germs while traveling from airport to airport, test AATCC TM90, TM100, and TM211 will prove this to be true. Bamboo also contains odor resistance, which can be proven by using test AATCC TM211.
