Objective: To create a vibrant fashion presentation that celebrates emerging designers and highlights innovation and creativity in fashion. By blending nostalgic inspiration with contemporary design, the showcase provided a platform for young creatives to express their unique voices while connecting with Chicago’s thriving artistic community.
Overview: The Fashion Futures Showcase 2024, hosted by the Chicago Fashion Coalition on May 9, 2024, at CineCity in Chicago, IL marked my debut as a designer. Inspired by Y2K girl groups, I created a bold, nostalgic collection blending the essence of Straight From The Go with the innovation of Raeted R. This event pushed my creative boundaries, celebrating my personal journey while showcasing the power of storytelling through fashion.

The Y2K era served as the foundation for my collection, inspired by the bold and confident energy of girl groups that defined the early 2000s. My moodboard features a vibrant palette of neon and metallic hues, playful patterns reminiscent of iconic pop culture, and silhouettes that exude a sense of fun and freedom. From shimmering fabrics to daring accessories, every element of the moodboard reflected the spirit of unapologetic creativity and individuality. This visual guide was instrumental in shaping the direction of my designs, allowing me to channel the nostalgia of the era while infusing it with a modern twist. It became a roadmap for translating my ideas into wearable art that resonated with both nostalgia seekers and contemporary fashion enthusiasts.
